Financials Lead the Charge: NSE Ltd Surges 8.42% as NSE 20 Advances July 1 2026

The NSE 20-Share Index rose 0.67% to close at 3,780.42 points on Wednesday, July 1. The NSE All-Share Index (NASI) gained 0.25% to 224.70. Turnover reached KES 730 million across 20.3 million shares traded in 11,770 deals, down sharply from the previous session.

Thirty stocks advanced while 17 declined among the 59 equities that traded. Nairobi Securities Exchange led gainers with an 8.42% rise to KES 21.25. Total Kenya added 4.43% to KES 44.80, and HF Group gained 4.29% to KES 10.20. On the downside, Family Bank fell 6.20% to KES 22.70. CIC Insurance dropped 5.07% to KES 4.31, and Umeme declined 4.66% to KES 7.36.

Family Bank was the most active counter by volume with 6.03 million shares traded, followed by Safaricom (3.35 million) and KenGen (1.55 million).

The session showed selective strength in financials and select industrials amid lower overall activity. Year-to-date, NASI is up 20.43%.
