Repeat Winner: Nairobi Securities Exchange Jumps 9.18% as Rally Extends July 2 2026

The Nairobi Securities Exchange closed higher on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The benchmark NASI rose 1.28 points (0.57%) to 225.98. The NSE 20-Share Index gained 0.78%, while the NSE 25-Share Index advanced 0.89%. Market turnover reached KES 800.28 million across 10,834 deals and 16.99 million shares traded, down 16% in volume from the prior session.

Breadth favored advancers, with 30 gainers against 17 decliners. Nairobi Securities Exchange Ltd led the gainers, surging 9.18% to KES 23.20. Eveready East Africa followed with a 7.62% gain to KES 1.13, and Standard Group rose 6.14% to KES 6.22. On the downside, Eaagads fell 4.86% to KES 29.35, Home Afrika declined 2.96% to KES 1.31, and BOC Kenya dropped 2.94% to KES 165.00.

Equity Group Holdings was the most active counter by volume with 4.11 million shares traded, followed by KCB Group (2.25 million) and Kenya Re-Insurance (1.55 million). Eveready East Africa also saw strong activity with 1.37 million shares.

The session reflected continued positive momentum in the market, supported by broad participation across banking and select industrial names. Year-to-date, NASI is up 21.12%.
